Lou did not in fact marry the Emma Loring pictured below. A news article published shortly after Lou's death in prison includes an interview with Lou's actual ex-wife of the same name.

Emma K. Loring, Lou's first wife, was in her later years a notable San Francisco eccentric.

A widow of some means, she was regarded as a painter of some talent, but her deteriorating mental condition eventually led to a lonely death. Her body wasn't discovered till a month later.
